Where
price and quality meet
Imagine yourself on one of our Polynesian-type catamarans. The
Tiki catamarans are directly descended from the ancient Polynesian
traveling catamarans which were in use for thousands of years all
over the tropical Pacific. The Polynesians were outstanding sailors
and brilliant navigators. They had crisscrossed the Pacific Ocean
already at a time when in Europe nautical development was limited
to floating down rivers on a log. James Wharram Designs in the UK
has for many years produced modern versions of these Polynesian
boats and those are the ones we use.
 Catamarans
are fast, fun to sail, spacious, comfortable, do not
heel and thanks to their shallow draught open up large cruising
area’s where a “normal” mono hull could not venture
because she’d run aground.
Our modified Wharram Tiki 38 catamarans
are eminently suited for tropical sailing adventures. Life in climates
like our’s is largely enjoyed outdoors, so rather than trying
to maximize the internal accommodation (as is done with most other
catamarans), we went the opposite way and made instead the usable
deck area as spacious as possible.
 Absolutely
essential in warm climates however are generously sized
bimini’s and awnings. They protect you from the midday sun
and keep you dry in the event of a brief tropical rain. Equally
essential (and sadly lacking on many yachts !) is that this protective
canvas can not only be used at anchor but under full sail as well.
Our solution is a large multifunctional expandable bimini which
in minutes can be enlarged to a full size awning and/or a fully
enclosing decktent. In all configurations all the sails can
be used. No attention
to detail has been spared.
What is included?
 Our
catamarans are spotlessly clean and completely equipped.
Supplied with the boat are also all charts and pilot books of the
Thai West coast, nav tools, binoculars etc. You even get a mobile
telephone. As with all PaddleAsia trip, we include all transfers
(airfare not included), all equipment, all meals, all snacks, all
non-alcoholic drinks, and insurance.
