Wildlife in Khao Sok national park:
Though this shot was not taken in Khao Sok, it shows the adaptability
of the Long-tailed Macaque. These monkeys also inhabit the islands
of Thailand. They can swim and seem to seek water often, especially
when young. In an island setting, they are usually called Crab-eating
Macaques. This photo illustrates why. Here, a young Long-tailed
Macaque, has captured a Ghost Crab and is eating it. Somehow,
this guy lost a good bit of his tail. There were some other
bigger Long-tailed Macaque on this beach. One of them is the
likely culprit. |
