Golden Tree Snake

Snakes of Thailand and Khao Sok National Park:

This Golden Tree Snake caught a skink right in front of us. We were at a temple on our way to Khao Sok and we noticed this snake. We didn't really see the skink until the snake made its move. The attack was very quick.

This snake is in the flying snake genus (Chyrysopelea). There are three species in this genus in Thailand. These snakes don't actually fly per se. When leaping from a tree, they flatten out their bodies and wiggle through the air. Their landing is surpizingly gentle.
